Janine, a G.T.N. member, wrote to me about her unusual wedding. I asked her if I could share it with everyone and she graciously agreed. Here, in her own words, is the story:

My name is Janine Smith. My husband Thom and I got married at the only permanent Garfield exhibit @ The Muncie Childrens Museum in Muncie Indiana on August 28, 1996.

I found out about the museum on Good Morning America and basically had the trip planned before even mentioning to my fiance!

I have been a Garfield enthusiast for over 10 years and knew this would be the only way to "do it". I simply called the Muncie Visitors Bureau to inquire and they kind of took over! They contacted the museum and Paws and the media. We just had to show up

Garfield gave me away and Carolyn Davis was at the wedding. She is just a doll. We were then invited to visit Paws and got the grand tour. We were on the top floor of their building when Kim, the PR Director @ Paws suddenly reappeared with Jim Davis. I was totally speechless! He's so cool and down-to-earth(just like I knew he'd be).

They took pictures of us(and my Garfield tattoos); gave us a copy of the strip from that day, autographed by Jim; a 36" Garfield plush and more. They treated us like family and made our wedding special.

We were recently informed by Kim at Paws that our wedding picture will appear in the 20th anniversary Garfield book coming out in April! We're just in Garfield heaven around here!

We have over 2000 Garfield items, old and new, and will continue to collect until we have no more room. We also have seven cats of our own, none named Garfield. Thanks for listening!
